After sharing and reflecting on your lesson plans in class, what insights about lesson planning and lesson delivery will you carry into your next placement (eg: focus on improving the timing and pace of lessons, etc.).
Reflecting on the lesson plans in class, it was extremely insightful. Some of the insights I would carry into my next placement are time and pace, student differentiation, engagement and motivation, most importantly flexibility and adaptation. I believe all of these factors I would be carrying into my next placement ties to one key delivery goal I have for myself, which is to give students time to learn and demonstrate learning.
As I reflected with the AT, we've came to a conclusion that for us one of the good indications of a good educator begins with flexibility and adaptation for every lesson. The reason being is that as educators we must reflect on how well the lesson catered to students with varying levels of understanding. Continuously making observations of moment where students are less engaged versus actively involved in their learnings. What's more, the pacing of the lessons is manageable for the students. These are all the reasons why I must stay flexible and ready
to adapt even in the middle of some activities or discussions. I must prepare myself to incorporate real-world connections so it is more relatable to the learners, or when it comes up suddenly in one of the lessons. Ultimately, the more reflective I am about my practice and to answer at what level I've achieved my goal of giving students time to learn and demonstrate learning, the more effective I can be at continuously improving and adjusting my teaching strategies to meet that goal.
Therefore, I believe successfully fulfilling giving students time to learn is when the educator can effectively utilize various teaching strategies to address time and pacing, differentiation, engagement and motivation, flexibility and adaptation while lesson planning. Which is what I would like to carry-over into my next teaching placement so I can continue to review and refine these skills.
